Why Meditate?

Simply put, meditation is any activity that empties your mind or focuses your mind onto one single thought, both of which has the effect of mitigating random thoughts from appearing in your mind.  When random thoughts appear in your mind–which is routine throughout the day–they tend mostly towards the negative.  This negativity influences your daily existence.  The purpose of emptying your mind or focusing it on a single thought (such as reciting one praryer over and over again) is to clear your mind of these negative thoughts for short (or with practice, extended) periods through-out the day.  By clearing all thoughts, the mind releases stress, anxiety, and nervousness for those minutes you are able to meditate.  The effects of those minutes that you meditate can carry over to the non-meditative moments, and help your emotional balance.

Practicing meditation is not difficult or complicated, but it does take daily practice to master.  When I meet people who have practiced meditatation over a long period of time, they tend to possess good emotional balance, and are generally people who are content with their lives.

For high-performing people, meditation does not take the “edge”  away.  Instead, it makes your mind and actions more lucid and effective.  Personally, I run multiple multi-million dollar businesses, and I can attest that mediation help get rid of my stress and allowed me to better focus my thinking towards problem solving.  During the recession of 2007-9, practicing meditation helped me weathered the downturn and maintain the businesses steady through some very rough times.
